Nadine Salameh began her acting career in 1998 at the age of 18 in the historical epic al-Kawasir with Syrian director Najdat Ismail Anzour. She has performed in numerous television series and film, including one play, Hikayat al-Jazeera al-Majhula (Tale of the Unknown Island) is a stage-adaptation of the 1998 Nobel Prize winning fable Le Conte De L'Ile Inconnue, written by Jose Saramago. Her movie Ru'aa Halima (Vision of a Dreamer) was also a hit in Syria. In it, she plays Jamila, a delinquent and revolutionary young girl in conservative Damascus during the 1970s. Nadine has also guest stared in the satirical comedies, al-Fusul al-Arba (Four Seasons), and appeared in part one of the satirical show, Spotlight. She has also played challenging roles like the strong-minded Haifa in al-Ayyam al-Mutamarrida (Delinquent Days). Other roles include Fadia, a blind young girl in Lil Amal Awdeh (Hope will Return). In 2003, she made the short movie Soura with Ayman Zaydan, a film about the resistance in Palestine. Then came her 30-episode series Radm al-Asatir (Burying the Legends), made in 2001 about Zionist attempts to steal and smuggle ancient ruins from Syria. Other TV shows made by Nadine include al-Mizan (The Scale) in 1999 and Zaman al-Wasl (The Era of Connectivity), a historical epic. Then came works like Zaman al-Samt (The Era of Silence), a comedy with Ayman Zaydan, and Unshudet al-Matar (The Chant of Rain), a romance with actors As'ad Fidda and Abid Fahd, directed by Basil al-Khatib.

 

 


 

In 2004, she starred in Hikayat Kharif (Tale of Autumn), directed by Fahd Miri, and Asr al-Junun (Era of Madness), directed by Marwan Barakat, with the star Bassam Boussa. She also starred in Faris Bani Marwan, directed by Najdat Ismail Anzour. Her major work in 2004 was al-Taghriba al-Filistiniyya (The Palestinian Exile), directed by Hatem Ali, starring Nadine, Jamal Sulayman, and Khaled Taja. The series, written by Walid Seif, was considered one of the finest about modern Palestinian history. In 2005, Nadine made Asi al-Dame (Tearless) a social drama with the director Hatem Ali, Ashwak Na'ima (Soft Thorns), with the director Rasha Shurbatji, and the historic epic Muluk al-Tawa'ef (Kings of Sects) with Najdat Ismail Anzour. The following year, she made two short cinema films, one called "Ratl Kamel Min al-Ashjar" (A Long Line of Trees) with director Talal Derki and "al-Batreek," (The Penguin) co-starring with the Syrian star Bassam Koussa and directed by Fajr Yaacoub. In 2007, she made the film Sabe Dakaik ila Muntasaf al-Layl, directed by Walid Hreb and starring Qussay Khuly. Nadine performed with Hatem Ali again in Nada al-Ayyam and Ahl al-Gharam with Laith Hajjo. She was featured in Ala Tul al-Ayyam (At the Days Length) and Sada al-Roh in 2006. During the Israeli war on Lebanon in July-August 2006, she produced a documentary on the Lebanese refugees coming to Syria, called The Thirty Fourth Day. In 2007 she performed in several memorable works, including the Egyptian film Jubba, staring Egyptian actor Mustapha Shaaban opposite Syrian star Ghassan Massoud. She also appeared in Katheer Min al-Hubb Kather Min al-Ounf (Too Much Love, Too Much Violence), directed by Fahd Mirri, and guest stared in Rasael al-Hubb wa al-Harb with the director Bassel al-Khatib, a drama starring Sulaf Fawakhirji and Sallum Haddad. Nadine also performed in Wasmet Aar (A Disgrace) with the star Khaled Taja, and Haza al-Aalam, working with a group of leading stars and actors from Syria.
